Original – Acrylics, sand, wax, clock parts and resin on box canvas framed in black wood float frame, 54cm x 54cm x 6cm

Summer Turns to High (Revisited) forms part of my Time & Tide Collection – that signifies the passing of time and changing of the tides.

It drills into the summer quadrant of life. The quote “Circle citronella candles” contained within it is taken from R.E.M’s song “Summer Turns to High”. It directly references the ticking clock of aging, and contrasts the rough with the smooth and darker shadows tinging the summer sun. Although essentially a joyous time, there is a bittersweet element through the citronella candle reference.

This pair simply represent high and low tide. Together they signify the passing of time and the appearance and disappearance of land during tides.
