This painting is an abstraction of the elements to be found in a working harbour – water, sky, sand, boats, metals, salt and rust. The line, “The Salt Inside the Rising Tide” , is taken from the song “Forgiven” by Echo & The Bunneymen  and is used to represent the salt of the sea, the stinging effect of salt bringing tears to one’s eyes, and the emotions evoked by ghosts of the past from the fishing industry.
