The Calm Before the Storm

The Calm Before the Storm is a larger artwork that creates a bold statement.

It forms part of my Vessels Collection – inspired by boatworks, masonry and metalworks in St Ives Harbour.

The term Vessel has the obvious nautical meaning and so you may see a teal boat with its hull resting on the sand, with decorative markings in yellow and white. But look deeper and you’ll find lines and scratches as though the boat is telling a story of each and every turning tide and trip out to sea. You may also see elements from the Harbour.

The Calm Before the Storm deliberately uses my signature to symbolise a boat registration number; and the title references the expectant influx of tourists to St Ives.
