I was absolutely delighted to be asked to feature in the FLUX Exhibition that was held recently at the Design District, Greenwich Peninsula, London, SE10 OER, from 18 May (Private View evening) to 27 May.
FLUX has established itself as the platform for contemporary artists to be discovered and to be part of an exceptional, inspirational art event. Curated by Lisa Gray, the founder of FLUX, this much-anticipated edition brought 50 artists to the fore. Gray selected the very best emerging and established artists for a ten-day event.
The show represented an opportunity to gain access to a vast and diverse group of gifted artists, on the path to being the big names of tomorrow, showcasing international talent in a collaborative, inclusive show. FLUX celebrates artists on the precipice of wider accolade and fame. Art, sculpture and installations are exhibited alongside exciting musicians and performance artists.
I had four artworks featured – and they looked great!
The Private View was an amazing evening. Jam packed with hundreds of guests and with music and live entertainment too. It’s rumoured they ran out of wine and had to order fresh supplies in. I’ve never been to an art event that was that lively and as much fun. It was fabulous to see about 20 of my customers there – and also to meet some new people and other artists. Painting can be a bit of a solitary experience so it’s great to share with others.
What a great location it was too! The Design District, Greenwich is a permanent home for the creative industries with 16 buildings by eight pioneering architects, one minute from North Greenwich underground station and the O2. Next to the Design District is London’s first-ever elevated riverside linear park. Initially 1km in length, running from Peninsula Square to the river and along the riverside, The Tide will eventually stretch 5km in length around the whole Peninsula. You can Walk The Tide and take in public art installations by global and emerging artists, including Damien Hirst, Allen Jones and Morag Myerscough, and enjoy food and drink from independent traders beside the river.
So if you missed FLUX, it’s still worth visiting the area. And of course there will be FLUX 2024 to look forward to.
