I’m delighted to have The Ghost Ship 2 selected for the Associates Summer Exhibition at the Penwith Gallery, Back Road West, St Ives – on from 22 July until 22 August.
It is part of a mini series initially inspired by the finding of the Endurance in the seas off Antarctica in March this year – almost 107 years after being stricken by ice.
Spanning both my Vessels Collection and my Through Dark Collection (I think it properly belongs in the latter), the Ghost Ship artworks also express my thoughts on world events at that time. Russia had just invaded Ukraine for example.
It felt like most of us were passengers on a ghost ship – being piloted to somewhere we didn’t want to go but were helpless to change course.
The amazing thing about the Endurance however, was that no lives were lost on that fateful voyage. And the found wreck was really well preserved. It had been well named by Sir Ernest Shackleton. I’m sure the world will prove ultimately durable.
There are 4 Ghost Ship paintings completed, two of which are sold, and 5 more currently in production. Ghost Ship 1 is available to buy and the others will be here soon – priced from only £200. If you can’t stretch to the price of an original, there is a signed, limited edition print of Ghost Ship 2 available.
