Really pleased to have Porthmeor Gold feature in the St Ives Society of Artists’ Christmas Open.
My most recent artwork, it forms a part of my Porthmeor Collection – created in response to the stunning beach of the same name in St Ives, Cornwall, and its surroundings in particular an incredible sunset this summer.
Porthmeor Beach is a surf beach with the iconic “Island” on one side and Man’s Head on the other. It has spectacular sunsets.
I’ve spent many hours on Porthmeor Beach watching my daughters surf, train in surf life saving, and play in its turquoise waters – as well as watching the glorious sunsets with friends.
Life long memories have been made on this beach.
It’s been a while since I added to this Collection and I really enjoyed creating this piece.
Created in acrylics on canvas and with my trademark ‘sand’, it has a 3D feel. With gold paint, it creates a real shimmer. Framed in a black wood box frame it makes a bold statement.
The show is on at the Mariner’s Gallery, St Ives Society of Artists and runs from Saturday 26th November to Saturday 28th January.
