Porthmeor Gold is a largish artwork that creates a bold statement.

It stands as a powerful statement piece within my Sunsets Collection – inspired by the luminous shoreline of Porthmeor Beach in St Ives.

Created with acrylics, metal pigments, sand, wax and resin, the work is enriched by the presence of found materials — grains of sand gathered from the coast and metal pigments that echo the area’s industrial past. These elements anchor the painting’s radiance in the textures and histories of the place itself.

The artwork reflects a particularly unforgettable sunset — an evening when the sky burned with colour and the sea appeared to ripple with molten gold. This piece distils that moment of brilliance, bringing the warmth and drama of Cornwall’s coast into view.

The work can be hung using the hangings attached (see image), or can be hung direct to the wall on screws or nails.
