Light & Shadow is a largish artwork that creates a bold statement.
It forms part of my Cornish Landmarks Collection – recreating iconic buildings of Cornwall.
This is a representation of Godrevy Island and Lighthouse, Cornwall depicting a play on light and shadow. The quote “a light here required a shadow there” is taken from Virginia Woolf’s novel “To the Lighthouse”. Godrevy is widely thought to have inspired the novel. As a child, the author spent many holidays in a St Ives guest house from which she could see the lighthouse. I see Godrevy Island and Lighthouse every morning that I wake up in St Ives and can never tire of that magical view. The image has been said to look like the view through a prism.
