Porthminster is a mini series of nine works within my Shorelines Collection, created in response to the stunning Porthminster Beach in St Ives, Cornwall, and its surrounding landscape.
It rings together nine intimate studies that celebrate the character, light and quiet drama of one of St Ives’ most iconic beaches.
Across the series, abstracted elements of the beach come into focus — the beautiful blues and turquoises of sea and sky, the warmth of golden sand, the surrounding grey rocks and walkways, and the striking white buildings marked with blue beach signs and flags. Each piece distils a different facet of this much‑loved shoreline, capturing its shifting colours, textures and rhythms.
Created with acrylics, sand, beeswax and resin, the works are enriched by found materials that carry their own lived history. The grains of sand and tactile surfaces root the series in the place that inspired it, giving each artwork a sense of memory, presence and authenticity.
The work can be hung using the hangings attached, or can be hung direct to the wall on screws or nails.
Although they can be split, together they form a large artwork that creates a bold statement. Please contact me if interested in splitting, eg into a set of 3.
