South Bank Yellow 4 forms part of my London Landmarks Collection – exploring some of the city’s most recognisable buildings, set within evocative urban landscapes.

The South Bank Yellow series reimagines London’s South Bank through an abstract, material‑driven lens. Inspired by the area’s iconic Brutalist architecture — from the Southbank Centre to the National Theatre — the work focuses on the site’s distinctive yellow staircases, raw concrete forms, and the tidal beach along the Thames.

Using acrylics alongside found materials of cement dust and sand, the painting echoes the physicality of the buildings themselves. A palette of concrete greys, industrial yellow, glass tones, and sky light is organised into a grid of bold shapes, softened by circular motifs drawn from the architecture’s surface details. The result is a textured, muscular composition that captures both the weight and the energy of this landmark cultural landscape.

The work can be hung using the hangings attached, or can be hung direct to the wall on screws or nails.
